2020 opening session: a beginner's mind (Video playback)
The recorded session
A beginner’s mind is a fresh mind, with which we could observe ourselves. A mind burdened with the past experience and saddled with sorrow is an old mind, distorted and petty.
In today’s opening session, let’s look at our mind, observe the freshness of it, don’t judge it, don’t interpret it, just notice it.
A series of questions to reflect upon (not to answer them)
- What is a beginner’s mind?
- What’s the challenge to have a beginner’s mind?
- Why are we so obsessed with thoughts?
- How are thoughts generated?
